Default Question about an intake

I just received my 2002 C5 Coupe last week  Anyhow, I was wondering what everybody thought about the C5 Chrome Dual Flow Air Intake with Carbon Fiber Power Duct (link below). I just purchased it about a week ago and was wondering if anybody had any opinions on the product or comments about usage..etc (especially from people who have/had it installed)

http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/pro...il.cfm?iid=743

Thanks in advance!

Enjoy your car and keep in touch as I am 15 minutes from Columbia and just starting to add things to my car. Put the Blackwing Intake on last week.

Excellent!!! I have been reading up on various intake systems. I've read alot of positive things about the Blackwing but on impulse I bought the intake listed above. I was just wondering if anybody else has heard anything about it or used it.

HOCKEY: Do you belong to the vette club around here? :)

Sorry, its considered the worst intake for C5s (next to stock). The twin tubes create turbulance and thus do not perform as well has all the other intakes, which is why a lot of people here don't use it. It does provide some gains, and still significant ones, as the intake is a huge restriction on C5s, but you would have been much better off with any of the Cold Air Intakes, the Donaldson, or even a big cone K&N mounted to the MAF. You will probably get about the same performance as that a $50 K&N panel replacement will give you. I'd sell it on ebay or on the forum and buy another if I was you.

That's correct. If you search around, you'll find the problems associated with the twin flow and turbulence. Go with any other intake, including stock, and you'll be fine.

All around, look at a Blackwing.

ncvetteman hit the nail on the head. The two channels of air from the twin filters create trubulence and therefore the air won't flow as smoothly and less air will flow. Go with an intake that only has one large filter.

Good, you'll be happier with the donaldson and you can get most of your money out of the twin-cone... they may even take it back too. You did know that the Carbon Fiber Power Duct is mainly a looks mod, 0-3hp at best, not very much performance per $$$.

I recommend the Vortex Rammer or the Donaldson Blackwing. The filter your considered will not yield the gains of the other two mentioned.
