Hi guys. I'm currently looking at either the MSD of Lingenfelter 2-Step Igntion kits for my 02Z, to help with launch consistency. On top of them sounding pretty sweet of course. However I was wondering if there's a way to disable it, so it's not on at all times. I understand that once I wire it into my clutch switch it's on when the clutch is depressed, and off when it is not.
However, I have a very large group of car friends and when I go out cruising I'm always bound to see a few of them, and I may toss them a rev to say hi. I'd rather be able to throw the clutch in real quick and rev then have to shift out of gear while I'm driving, rev, get back into gear and revmatch to get back to speed. Is it possible to get an on/off switch from Radioshack and wire it in line of the cable that taps into the 12v ground on the clutch switch and drill out a small area on the knee bolster or something?
Ive seen the "toggle" version done a few different ways. One of the slickest is using the horn button, a 3 way toggle, and a couple of relays.
With the toggle in one position the enitire sytem was off and the horn worked as normal.
In the next position the 2 step was active and relayed through the horn button on the sterring wheel. Hold the horn button down during launch with your thumb. After launch just let off and the 2 step is no longer active.
In the third position the horn button became a nitrous activation switch. Worked the same as above.
You could do the same with coiled cord and button that you can just hold in your hand.

Wow, that's definitely a little more complex than I was looking for haha. I was thinking of just dremeling out a hole and getting an on/off switch some where inconspicuous.
