Default What is this

Pulled the running gear out of my 03Z to change the clutch. Have everthing in order and know where things go. found one part on the floor and don't know what it is. Anyone know what this is. It has black dust like break dust on it.

It kinda looks like a spring clip for the breaks but Im not sure. I imagine clutch dust is very similar to break dust too.

That is a brake spring clip. One of those fits on each side of the caliper bridge to keep tension on the shoes.

Right on Thanks CHJ.
Now all I have to do is get the new clutch in and put this thing together.

100% sure that's it. The big question is, " how does that come out without taking your calipers off?

Kind of scary...

The Calipers were off. Pulled them off to pull the drive train without disconnecting the brake lines. Pulled the half shafts out and the brake lines passed between the shafts and the rear axle. Saved me from bleeding the brakes.
