My car sat for 2 years in a garage, i put a new battery and oil in it and started it right up no problems, but the inside lights werent working and my right side door and mirror would not lock or go down. and ac wouldnt work.. i had some work done on it on the right side fender and door so i thought maybe something was disconnected so i took the door and right fender off... all fuses and harness connected and fine.... i took all the harness is off on the right side fender sprayed electronic parts cleaner and plugged them all back in.... as soon as i did that my BCM in the passenger dash started buzzing like crazy.. and nothing works or it will work for 1 sec and stop as soon as i turn something electric on..... PLZ HELP!!!
Perhaps the parts cleaner is still wet inside the connections and causing ground or arching issues. Open them up again, let them dry out and then reconnect.
How are the connections going to the door? Are the wires ok?
Disconnect them again and flush them out with electrical contact cleaner. Let them dry and examine the male and female pins and make sure that you didnt bend and damage any pins. Espically the female pins.
What is our static battery voltage??? (key off engine off)
thanks for the reply. i messed up i didnt wait till the parts cleaner dried before i connected it.. and all the buzzing started.. and the wires all look fine and everything plugged in idk... tommorow im going to disconnect everythign and re try it hopefully i get some better luck
i couldnt get a voltmeter yet but i had a friend help me try to jump the battery and the electronics started fine... but car wouldnt crank over...?
You have to slow down, and stop "shotgunning" things!!
Disconnect the battery from the car and put it on a "low charge" for a couple of hours, to begin with. A C-5, if not being used daily, can drain a good battery in two weeks....you let the car set for 2 years.
After you FULLY charge the battery, then take a voltage reading, and see if it's 12 volts. If it is, hook the battery up, turn the key to "on", and see what powers up. If nothing buzzes or crackles, try starting the car. If it won't crank, which wouldn't be a surprise, go to Autozone, Advance Auto parts, NAPA, etc, and have them "load test" the battery. It might be just that the battery is toast...
