Today with the car off and locked the head light doors came open
with no lights and the motors just kept running till I unplug them.
I am sure the motors are shot now They ran for more than a hour
before I found them, Anyone had this problem
Either the headlamp controller is having a problem or the headlamp switch. Let me add just in case, its possible the BCM is having a problem. Any water on the passenger floorboard area? What is the battery voltage as measured with the ignition off and using a meter?
Just another quick thought came to mind, its possible the gears might have stripped out inside of the headlamp motors.
The car only has 11,000 miles I did put a new Battery init the day before. Also I washed it before sunday driveout. I wash thinking
maybe a little water got to the module because the wire schematics
shows that it hot all the time. thats the only way the headlights
came up on they own with the car off & locked. The motors ran so long
that it melted the plastic srews on top. NO water on floor the car
always in garage.
The motors will run by command from the headlamp controller. The bumper stops inside of the motors should stop them, which the current load increases, the controller stops the motors from running. I'm thinking the headlamp controller of course but its still possible the gears inside of the motors are at issue here BUT both going bad at the same time is a near impossibility or lets say the odds are against it. A single command is issued from the headlamp switch to the headlamp controller, to raise or lower BOTH headlamps. The controller handles the power to the lamp motors. Check the two connectors to the controller and insure they are clean and properly plugged in. Its mounted on the front forward passenger side frame rail behind the headlamp.
