Default Replacing Clock Spring (air bag light ON)

During my cam swap/oil leak fix I turned the wheel over one time on accident. Noticed today the air bag light was on so I am assuming the clock spring needs to be replaced. I saw a C6 How To on this, but I do not see a C5 version. I assume it is almost the same?

What part number do I need to fix this? Anyone with experience want to give me some pointers?

Basically you need to get the steering wheel straight.

Pull the battery and the fuses for the air bag.

You'll need a special steering wheel puller (Snap on $150).

Depends on what year your car is what clock spring you'll need. I have one for a 2001 if that's the year of your car.

So the clock spring is year specific? Mine is a 2004. While I was searching I found several people that have sold the clock spring and said it would work for 1998-2004.

Part number?

I would double check with the dealer. I know the air bags are year specific so I would think the rest of the parts would be too.

Found out today that the part number for all 2004 Corvettes is 26095710. Does not matter if it is telescoping or non telescoping. A forum member gave me a deal on a good used one and it will be on its way tomorrow.

Also bought the j hooks needed to remove the steering wheel from Amazon for $15 and the puller for another $15

More than likely that cheap puller will break. I tried one of those and it snapped the legs. You'll be amazed on how tight those steering wheels are on there.

I figure if it breaks I will just let amazon know and they will give me a refund. Can't beat amazon prime and their customer service. Let's hope!

Just go really slow and make sure you hold it level. It helps to have two people with the cheap puller.

One to hold it in place and the other to crank on the bolt. You'll understand what I mean once you get going. If you break a leg your local NAPA parts store carries them.
