Default Belt Pulley Replacement Need the Final Answer

Ok so I am exhausted reading all the threads on how this pulley and that pulley are all the same but you need to put a washer on this one and that one almost fits...

I have all 4 pulleys off (Kept the Tensioners) and and going to replace them all with 2 new belts.
There are 3 types of pulleys I took off.

1 Ribbed
2 Smooth Plastic (Both the Same for the A/C Belt)
1 Smooth Metal

Other than buying DELCO parts.. Who has the BEST replacement parts that fit with no modifying.. I am hoping to not be driving all over town trying to find washers..

Autozone has them all but do they all need to be modded..???

231015 Ribbed Pulley for main belt tensioner
231059 Smooth Metal Pulley for the Main Belt Idler
231135 Smooth Metal Pulley to replace the Plastic ones for the A/C

Delcophobia?

Avoid NAPA for their A/C idler equivalent. I tried, and returned it for a Delco 15-4669 from Amazon. The NAPA bearing-to-pulley offsets were not correct so it would bind. Wherever you end up going, bring your old ones and a micrometer along for a match-up.

With 10+ trouble free years from the OEM parts, I'll gladly go back to Delco. I've not had the same longevity experience with Duralast parts.

Another question is - why replace them all? I only had one with loose bearings which were obvious by spinning it on my finger. My other 3 pulleys went back in. If you're trying to keep costs down, why not just replace the one(s) that squeal/rattle or have bearing slop?

http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/cat...log_search.php

Model year of your car, Belts/Hoses/Cooling category, then subcategory Belts, Tensioners, Pulleys.

As I mentioned, I bought a 15-4669 with the bolt and cover plates. For my '02, they list the HVAC pulley only as 15-20679. The main drive idler pulley is listed as 36220, but I can't confirm as I didn't replace anything on my main drive.

You can also check in with Gene Culley and ask for the price for the part, or you can also go to www.gmpartsdirect.com, click the link for Catalog, agree to the terms enter your vehicle info and look up the part.

Got em all from Rock Auto along with a Dorman balancer and Gatorback belts.. I can't remember the brand but they were cheap enough I just changed em all. May have been Dayco. Everything fit fine and no more wobble or chirping belts.

No Delcophobia here but I refuse to simply pay for a name when most GM boxes say "Made in Mexico" Besides, if the original stuff was so great, why did it only last 70K ?

Any possibility of the part numbers you orderd from Rock Auto? They list list too many part numbers.. whats worse is they list lots of GM parts too with no pics or explanations of what they are for.. Also they list one pulley for the A/C when its actually for the main idler. WTF..

Ok I got is all fixed.. Bottom line is I decided not to scew with replacing the pulleys. The main idler was the worst and a bit dried up inside.

I pulled them all. Popped the Bearing seals and cleaned em in Gasoline to remove all grease and dirt.. I then repacked them with Synthetic Caliper grease.. The high temp rating wont let it melt out of the seals.. Yes I have used this successfully in the past despite others opinions of catastrophic failure that could happen..

After I put them back on I still had the squeel.. It turned out to be the A/C belt. I know I should have done the belt test 1st but I figured I'd revive the pulleys first..

Not the best choice for grease...but it will hold you for a while.

Kind of ironic thing is.... the squeel often comes from the belt tensioner. I had to replace my factory tensioner @ only 6k miles.
