5th Gear Grind / Not Engaging
Im having some problems shifting into 5th gear. Its gotten to a point where i avoid going in there. I usually stay in 4th or 6th if im on the highway. The car is a 01 z06 with 83000 km on it.
While driving if I put it into gear and not let off the clutch I feel the shifter viberating (as if the gears are skipping), as soon as i let off the clutch it will start grinding.
If Im standing still and try to put it into 5th it automatically goes into reverse. It seems that I cannot engage it at all.
I read on the forum regarding the shifter adjustment and some people talking about bent forks? Could this possibly fix my problem, or are the symptoms more or less a 5th gear that is totally gone?

I thought I would ask to see if anyone had a similar problem with their in the past that could lead me to the right direction.
Thanks in advance for everyones help!

Contrary to popular belief, the shift forks do not "bend". The grinding and popping out of gear usually mean the shift fork pads are broken or missing on the 5th gear side. Unfortunately, the transmission has to be gone through. Let us know if we can help.
Sucks that I have to replace the entire tranny for it. I will pm Rick and see what are my best options!
Thanks again!
