Taking my Z for an allignment soon. Had recently installed new tires. Since I've owned the car, the steering wheel was very slightly off center going straight down the (flat) road. The original Goodyear F1's wore even and normal.
My question is, will an allignment take care of this, or is there some other type of adjustment that needs to be done.
Thanks,
Silverbird
It is VERY important for the steering wheel to be dead nuts zero when your going straight . The Active Handling system uses the Steering Wheel Position Sensor data and the YAW acceleorometer to react properly. If the wheel is too far off center it can cause AH issues or cause the AH WARMING UP MESSAGES to come on a lot which means that it diong a zero routene.
Have the alignment tech drive the car with you in it. Explain to him that you want the wheel DEAD ZERO Straight when the car is driving straight down a level (slightly crowned road).
Yes, there are adjustments that he can make to correct this and TRUST ME,,,,, it is not difficult to get it right. Just a little time consuming.
If you explain to him that you want it straight, it should be easy to accomplish.
