I have gone through every ground and the plugs in doors as well as busses, and still the new IPC continues to turn off and then back on with no predictability. The battery is new and the volt meter shows charging at just above 13. The codes are all 1096-communication. The previous owner had a new IPC put in by a dealer. Obviously, this did not solve the issue.
Could it be the BCM which is what shows as the source unit in the 1096 codes?
If so, where is it and how expensive is it to replace it? If it is behind the passenger foot well panel, it is perfectly dry there with no signs of water leakage or presence.
Is it a straight switch out?
Think I should try a BCM switch out?

Reason: add to it
Will likely wait until the IPC craps out totally. Thinking the BCM would be good or bad, and since the problem comes and goes, it must be power or ground interruption.
Any other ideas on the cause of this intermittent issue would be much appreciated.

I'd be looking at the ignition switch. I don't see where the BCM comes into play here.
So, The ignition switch could cause this intermittent IPC problem? Never thought of that , as it seems to function well in all other respects. However, sometimes if I shut the car down and restart it, the IPC returns to normal. Hmmmmm.
