The a/c was working fine, turn it on and get cold air. Now turn the a/c on and it takes quite a while for the air mildly cool. It started making some noise. Pushed gently on the cooling lines and the noise goes away, kind of like a vibration sound. Any ideas what my problem is and advice on how to fix it would be appreciated.
I just returned from my yearly freon purchase. I watched as the mechanic evacuated my system and I had 0.62 pounds of coolant left. That after 10 months and starting with 1.75 pounds. The molocules of the new coolant are so small that they leak out of the older vettes/autos. That according to my mechanic. It makes sense with the vibration.. etc you are going to loose it. He said your cooling system should cool 20 to 30 degrees from the outside air on a warm day so 90 degree day should have 60 degree air coming out the vent. I am going to get a thermometer (sp) and measure it now but it is really cold this morning. Here in NC it is a nice spring day so I don;t expect 30 degree drop but in the future I will measure it.
I think the only good way to figure it out is to refill with dye added, so if it is leaking, you may be able to spot it.
I'm going through AC trouble on another car right now, and it's not fun. That system is mostly empty, so I'm going to pull a vacuum on it and see if it leaks. If so, I'll track it down using dye, repair, and refill.
BS refrigrerant LEAKS out at a LEAK your mechanic is a dud

A very slight seepage MIGHT be possible but not most of the refrigerant charge. You have a LEAK. Find a mechanic who knows how to find leaks.
