Default Question on ECT (Temp Sensor)

Hi - I need to replace my temp sensor (due to the locking tab broke off while removing the header). The sensor seems fine, but the plug will not stay in.

This may be a stupid question...but when I remove the old temp sensor is coolant consistently going to pour out? Or just a little bit? Will this change introduce air into the system?

Thanks guys!

Its an easy replacement and spillage can be minimized by doing the following:

ENGINE COLD!!!!! Remove the expansion cap. Have a friend seal the opening of the expansion tank after you collapse the upper radiator hose with your hands. After you collapse the hose, have him seal the opening on the tank.

That will put a slight vacuum in the expansion tank. Remove the Temp Sensor and "QUICKLY" replace the old one with the new one.

NOTE! Use Teflon thread sealant wrapped the correct direction on the threads of the new sensor.
