Default CHECK ENGINE will not go away!

"Air injection" problem. I JUST bought this 01' Z06. Its beautiful. I love it. BUT I already changed an old vaccuum hose and two pcv valves and the light wont go away. The air pump runs but its not blowing air all the time when I take the hose apart by the driver side wheel. Whats telling the pump to turn on? Could that be bad?
Thanks playaz, I know emissions isnt a big deal but I HATE that light
Peace

Just remove the air pump and get it tuned out when you go to the dyno or a tuner.

It's very important that you tell us what the codes are. If you have a P1415 or P1416. Time for new air check valves. Cheap part but labour intensive for the passenger side valve.

Just happened yesterday to me. I had the P1416 come up.

I just replaced both the check air valves along with the vacuum hose. The reader I used just said "air injection." The pump is makin noise like its workin but its like its not blowing air all the time. That's why I wonder if there's a short somewhere that has it only workin part time or somethin.

The pump is not supposed to run all the time. You STILL have not posted your codes.

The pump only runs for a couple of minutes at cold start and when the PCM tells it to during the AIR Test.

The pump has a vacuum controlled OUTPUT valve. Check that valve and make sure that it has a vacuum signal when the pump is running. If it does and you still dont have pump air flow, the valve is bad.

In my very humble opinion and because of my actual experience I would not spend another penny or ounce of effort trying to troubleshoot this useless piece of hardware. I replaced my AIR pump twice, replaced both valves, and still had the issue. For $100 I had a great tuner modify the parameters in the 'puter and have not seen a CEL since. Performance is no issue, neither is motor vehicle inspection. Good Luck.

To the OP, are you aware that you can easily pull the codes using the DIC?

Found this a while ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhcVCICGE3U

Use the 3 and 4 buttons to scroll through the modules
Use the 1 and 2 buttons to scroll through the codes within a module
