Default Trunk release

Hi Guys,
I'm new to the C5 family...just bought a low mileage Z06. There are a couple small issues with the car that i'm trying to resolve and I'm looking for some help. One issue is with the trunk release button in the car; it does not pop the trunk. I replaced fuse #26 located in the passenger foot-well fuse box and that didn't resolve the issue. I also tried switching relay #39 with the one next to it (courtesy lights i believe) and that didn't work either. The trunk button DOES work by using the keyless remote, it just doesn't work if you hit the button on the dash. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks. Is there a diagram, or better yet could you talk me through how to get access to the back of the button?

It just pops out. Try gently eassing it out with a screwdriver or a flat blade

Thanks guys. I popped it out and it was disconnected. Not only was it disconnected but i don't even see the cable that it's supposed to plug into. That would explain why it's not working . I was thinking to check where the other end of the cable is supposed to hook up (if there is even a cable)...would that be in the trunk area?

Guess you did not test that button before buying the car...

The trunk release harness has to be there. Sounds like the previous owner had the IPC apart, or was experimenting. Does your panel have two switches, or just one for the trunk release?

I actually did test it, but thought it was just a fuse

Previous owner (2nd owner) doesn't know anything about it. He says it was like this when he got the car....he actually brought it to my attention as an issue when i was looking at the car. He said he never got around to getting it fixed because he doesn't use the trunk much and also since keyless remote works was never a priority. i'm guessing first owner did something. The panel i popped out only has one button for the trunk release

Then that connector has to be in there somewhere. If you want it fixed, you'll have to go on a little fish expedition.

Guys...thanks a lot for your help; i really appreciate it. I'm going on a fishing expedition. These cars are a lot more intimidating to take apart than my C3. Wish me luck.

Bingo! Found it.
I felt around earlier and didn't feel it, which is why i thought it was missing. After loosening the interior pieces and laying under the dash i managed to find it. Tested it and it works just fine
Thanks again.
