Default Laptop Mount

I got tired of putting my laptop in the seat so made myself a mount. All of the RAM mounts systems were a couple hundred $$. I got about $15 in this one.

***Disclaimer*** HPTuners has broken the stand alone I/O logging for the interface box so that means in order to log AFR I have to have my laptop in the car. It's not for watching movies...

Looks good. What do you mean they broke the I/O logging? That's the main reason I got the Pro interface, for blackbox data log.

With the new version of the HPTuners software 2.23.XXX Beta, the interface no longer logs anything through the I/O ports. Software won't talk to the chipset in the interface or something. Bill with HPT can explain it better.

You would have to use the 2.22 version but it doesn't have support for the newer cars so either run two different versions or use the laptop to log.

That's all schedule 40 3/4" PVC coated with Plasti-Dip. I made the flat surface for the laptop from some sheet metal.

Oh yes, I tried that beta version and had issues with the interface. I figured it was "too beta", so I went back to an older version.

Okay well I didn't like the base the laptop sits on so I broke out the $37 Harbor Freight brake and made me a better one. I still have to paint it and mount it to the pedestal arm.

The piece that mounts to the tunnel is PVC pipe with a PVC 90 degree angle. Painted with Plasti-dip.

Sweet is there alot of flex in the PVC when you sit the laptop on it or is it pretty sturdy?

Nice I like it, I just ordered one from NewEgg on sale for $89.00 it mounts to the front bolt on the seat track.
Haven't seen it yet but it has good reviews.

Where did you get the cable that runs from the laptop to the car? And where did you get the software?

I have HPTuners so it's their interface and cable.

Yes very sturdy. The way I made the cradle the laptop sits in, I don't have to strap it down. I went out and made several nitrous runs and it didn't budge. May still be a good idea for safety reason should I get in an accident.

Good to know, I was thinking about making it out of aluminum tubing but if its sturdy I will use the PVC, Its easier
