I am not a mechanic so all I have to go in is advice I get from you guys here at the forum, which I might add has been right on every time. Fuel pump on left side is pretty loud for about a year now. It's always been loud. Does it mean I need to replace it soon. Where's the best place to get one. The stealership quoted over $800 for pump alone. It's a 97 coupe. Thanks in advance for your advice.
What year is your vette? Unless is a 2004, the fuel pump is prety easy to fix yourself.
You can buy a pump only pretty cheap. I got one for $100, aftermarket performance pump. Install is harder, as you gotta reuse the stock can (don't break it removing old pump).
for about twice that, you can get a drop in can/sender/pump relacement.

Rock Auto has Bosch, Carter and AC Delco units. All three are reputable companies. The Carter P74895M (shown above) is actually listed twice with 2 different prices. One for $347.xx and the other for $410.xx. Must be a catalog error. The AC Delco unit MU1215 is $427.xx These all include a new mounting gasket and screws which alone can sell for $40-$50 (~). The GM part # is 89047745 and is $462.xx at GMpartseastdotcom.
There are other sources too, but this can give you a starting point.
