Default ac issue?

I have ice cold ac coming out the two passenger dash vents. Warm air coming out the drivers side vents. It seems as if the climate control adjustment is working properly because I can turn it up to increase the temp.

Do the vents get stuck on the c5's? Any ideas would be appreciated.

IF you know how to check your DIC for codes, see if there is anything for the HVAC and post back.

I'll get a scan done as soon as I get a chance. Thanks for the posts.

The 98 that I used to have would do that when it needed freon.

these systems are very sensitive to freon levels so being down just a bit can be an issue....unfortunately that would mean you have a leak. You can get the blend door reset with a Tech II but if it is a freon issue it won't matter.

I know my actuator is screwed up and I swapped head units with an 04 and solved that issue...it was easier than me getting to the actual actuator

You don't need a scan, everything is through the DIC. DO a search for how to read the DIC.

Thanks for the replys.

I'm not showing any codes on the dic.

I reset the battery today and it acted like it might start blowing colder air but than became warm again. I'm going to give the charge a boost this weekend and see if this helps.

Thanks again,

Steve B.

the control units after 01 have a built in logic circuit that compensates for the screwed up actuator...

here is a write up with pics for replacing the actuator as well as a few other nice articles...scroll down to the 3rd or 4th article, it mentions the pre 01 actuators

My pressure guage was way off. Probably because I left it attached to the refrigerant can all winter. Anyhoo, bought a new guage any refilled and wall-a....cold air on both sides.

Not sure how the thing can blow ice cold air on one side of the car but not the other just because it's a little low, but that was the case.

yeah, probably should have mentioned that from the start

these cars are very picky...just a little low and you get strange things happening
