Default need help in diagnosing issue with engine!

I have a modified engine on my 2001 z06. Although my ls6 has a foorged bottom end the compression is not higher then stock. I am running a procharger P1SC-1 at about 10lbs of boost. The other day I went to start the car and it made a horrible racket which I later determined appears to be starter related. When i removed the starter the front nose section was snapped off. Im not sure what could cause this issue. I have been told by multiple sources it could be voltage related and possibly is a design flaw with the LS1/LS6 starters? Any ideas on what could be going on?

Perhaps the flywheel was damaged by the first failed starter?
Did you check it all the way around?

Take it back apart and look see.

I replaced it with a new autozone starter and reassembled. After attempting to start--the engine cracked over once (not firing yet) and then the staer stared making similar noises to the previous broken one. Also as if teh gears werent alligning with the flywheel? It had starter crancking for a few seconds though? Im not sure if the new starter is trashed or not--any ideas on what could be going on?
pull the plugs and check for coolant in the cylinders...you might have a hydrolock.

Figure it out BEFORE you snap off a chunk of the block.

I agree!

Take off the starter and inspect it too to see if it had similar damage to it as the other one -

Then you can point your finger at the Flywheel - pull the inspection covers and to a good look with a good light- most likely damaged flywheel!

Be careful that the block's outer bolt hole for the mounting of the starter is not cracked or broken - a buddy of mine just had his crack off and fortunately the shop was able to weld it back up (Aluminum weld) -

Check it out and let us know what you find and take pictures so we can see and direct you in the proper direction for the repair!

Thanks,Matt
