Default Hid resistors HELP

Dose anybody know what ohm resistors to use ? how they are installed?

I would think piggyback on the positive side to get some resistance.

I put the HIDS in but can not use the twilight feature any more they

wont open.

Also have to keep them on for a while to get to close.

Call me cheap but to buy 2 resistors for $20 is to much...
There must be some technical person that can help?

I added a 150 ohm 25 watt resistor between the low beam feed and ground. Without this resistor the headlights wouldn't go down in the low beam mode, high beam had to be selected. I installed some bi-xenon projectors and used the low/high beam feeds to drive control circuits, there wasn't enough load for proper motor operation so the resistor was added. I don't know if all C5 systems with HIDS will respond the same way with this resistor as I only tried it on mine. One resistor on both the low and high feeds might be needed on other C5 systems. The 25 watt rating could also be reduced, I used what I had which was #TBH25P150RJE-ND. Digikey has a good selection of resistors. http://www.digikey.com/product-searc...esistors/66696

THANKS FOR RESPONDING!

So i will need to put a 150 ohm 25 watt resistor on the 12 volt side?
I was thinking just piggy back on positive side because dont want to lower voltage to HID capacitor. i WOULD THINK?

Or use a proper battery based, relay wiring harness for your HIDs

One side of the resistor is connected to ground and the other side is connected to the wire that used to go to the low beam headlight +12V side and now goes to the ballast input +12V wire.

Thanks put in resistor on one side it fixed the problem. I still can not use the twilight feature. They come on when its dark but do not open. Do you think if I put another resistor on other side it might fix twilight?

Does it matter if the lights are on the low or high beam for the twilight feature not to work?

Thanks for responding,
I will have to check but twiligt worked fine until HID's were installed
Well checked the twilight with high beam and it works so maybe I will try installing another resistor on the other Hid.

You might need to add another resistor from the high beam feed to ground similar to what you did to the low beam feed.

I've only read about the resistors helping to close the headlights, not open them. I suspect you have another issue.

FYI for future use. 100 ohm, 5W resistors would work fine. 150ohms, 5W is good too. The 25W resistor is overkill. 100 ohms or higher would keep the power below 2W. A good rule of thumb is to use a resistor at 1/2 rated power or less.
