Default Active handling

My Cruise control is working intermittently and now my active handling light is coming on every couple of minutes in straight, level steady speed driving.

I have adjusted my cruise control sensor at the clutch.

Any one have any ideas where I should start looking?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

From the service manual:

The PCM disengages the cruise control operation based on the information received from the TAC module. The TAC module monitors the signal circuits of the following switches:
• The On/Off switch
• The TCC/brake switch
• The stop lamp switch
• The CPP switch

The PCM inhibits the cruise control operation when any of the following conditions exist:
• A cruise control system related DTC has been set.
• The vehicle speed is less than 40 km/h (25 mph).
• The vehicle is in PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, or 1st gear.
• The engine RPM low.
• The engine RPM is high.
• The vehicle speed is to high.
• The system voltage is not between 6 volts and 16 volts.
• The antilock brake system/traction control system is active for more than 2 seconds.

Without seeing the codes,I would say your steering wheel position sensor is going out. Mine did the same thing.

When you pull your codes if you get C1287 and/or C1288, it will be the SWPS. Had to replace mine last year on my 04.

I just tried to pull codes from the DIC by hitting the options button and then the fuel button 4 times. According to the DIC, there are no codes.
My steering wheel is straiht going down a straight & level road and I have not changed the tire sizes.

I'm not sure what an AH light is, please let me know, Any have ay other ideas?
Thanks

When my SWPS was on the way out, it took about a week for it to throw a code, and it is a DD.

Same symptoms I had. Steering wheel sensor was the issue. However, you should still pull your codes through the DTC.

AH Light is the yellow light on the right side of the dash. Looks the rear of a vette with burnout tracks behind it.

Thanks for the reply, AH - Active Handling! I've had a rough day, my brain must be asleep.
My Active handling notice does not stay on, it comes on and then goes out and comes on again within seconds.

How difficult is it to change the SWPS?
Thanks,

I had the dealership change mine both times. The first time it was under warrany, not so much the second time. I didn't want to mess around with the air bag stuff. Just for reference, I think it was about $400 for the part and labor.
