Youre probably right because I cant find one. I have a LS3 tb for newer LS3/7's (gold blade) and I was wondering about swapping the internals with the LS2 tb. That way I can have a new ported body with the gold blade yet with the LS2 motor and internals so it works in the C5. Just an idea.

You could call Mark Shaner and see if he has one he will sell you. He has a "Parts for sale" section on his web site but it is "Under Construction". He is a very nice guy and really informative to talk to, but you will be on the phone for a while when you call him

I'll look him up, thanks. Itll be pretty cool if he lets me pick his brain too. Lol

Anyone know how hard it might be to remove the internals of a dbw tb? Idk if the assembly will pull out with the four screws and the blade removed.

Good tip from vettenuts. I would also recommend checking with Pete Incaudo at VMax Motorsports. He is also a really nice gentleman and a true TB specialist, big time. He knows TBs like the back of his his hand; been doing them for years.

Either Pete or Mark can probably help you as they are in the business of dis-assembly and modifying, etc.
I would think a word of caution is in order here regarding the installation of a new blade. If there is ANY up/down or side-to-side "play" in the screw alignment when tightening, it may affect proper blade alignment and potential opening/closing or sticking issues, not to mention potential idle quality issues if there are excessive gap(s), especially if the TB has been ported already. Even the smallest of gaps in the wrong place may wreak havoc with idle quality. That's why I would strongly recommend contacting one of the folks and maybe even sending yours in to have the blade installed if necessary.

Thanks for tips guys. Ive replaced blades before. Its important to make sure the blade moves thru its whole range of motion without any hangups. Usually the blade is untouched when porting. Hopefully I wont have any issues when replacing it. Now to see if one of those shops has one laying around...

Talked to Pete, he doesnt have any spare LS2 blades and he charges $90 on top of porting if you need one. I guess theres a premium for these. I sold my LS3 tb so I guess I will have to keep shopping for a 90 blade. Also Pete said the silver and gold tb blades are not interchangeable.

This might be a stupid question, but if a small hole in the TB blade is the only issue, why can't you just epoxi the hole closed?

Sorry to hear he couldn't sell you one. Well, at least you know now the silver/gold blades don't interchange. I'm running one of his CNC ported units and it's a work of art. IIRC, he even sent before/after flow rate info with it when I received mine back.

If I run across anything I'll let you know.

I wouldn't trust epoxy to hold, what with all the vibration/airflow, etc. If the epoxy let go the engine fuel trims would go goofy and result in idle problems I suspect.

If I HAD to chose something, I would think brazing (for brass or brass alloy) or TIG welding for aluminum, etc.

Thats what the previous owner did. He put in a rivet and epoxied over it. I would hate for it to come loose and Im sure it doesnt help the smooth airflow coming in. A nice solid blade would make me feel better.

I thought I read somewhere the blades have a special coating on them and I'm guessing brazing would mess it up and well as warping it too. Expoxy would be the best, there are amazing expoxies today, BMW uses expoies on body panels. Saw a program on epoxies and they put bridges together with it too.
