Ok. I have started another thread almost a week ago referring to a tick/tap in my car. I live in florida and have taken my car to Leos Corvette for repair. Im being charged $3200?!? for a more than likely bad lifter. Now im no all star mechanic but im a lil more familiar with this motor and the parts i have had put in it. I saw on my estimate where he wrote $54.91 ea for LS7 lifters??? Im sure ive seen these go as a set for $140 $170. There is $255 in head gaskets. There are other prices obviously. I was under a time crunch to get my estimate somwhere. So i dont have those at my disposal. So im asking all of you guys about this price? Sounds shady.....
You're paying full retail list for everything. Even at full list your head gasket price seems high. That must also include other gaskets and hardware...
EXACTLY! Im more than a lil bit frustrated. Bc i have found said price ($140 for LS7 lifters) at more than one location. This guy is really price gouging. Im really tempted to not let him have my car. That is rediculous! Everything he listed seems inflated.....hes chargin $1250 for labor. He didnt mention cam and neither did i. So im gonna assume that is just for the heads alone.
Dont feel like getting into the story but im actually not the one paying for this. Yea yea i know what some of u are gonna say. Then y worry?? Right? Well bc its wrong. Plus the way this is being paid for im gonna have to go back and tell my source this may not even be the bottom price.
I will post a list of the EXACT numbers tomorrow when i get the reciept. Just for everyones info....the work has not been started yet. That is the written estimate.

well I would say wrong is wrong but if the guy is going to charge you that and that is HIS price, then how can you tell him HE'S wrong?
I admire you conscience as to wanting to do what is right
Can you ask for a lower estimate using the knowledge of the prices you've found? Or have you played your hand telling the mechanic you're not the one paying for it. That's like a green light for the mechanic to pretend he's a medical doctor and charge what he wants knowing more than likely, the insurance company will pay for it...and feels no one gets hurt. The one that gets hurt is the one left paying the tab.
You get a repaired (hopefully) engine ,the mechanic gets his money and then there's the other guy who gets................well.........he'll get something........... IN THE END!
