So I noticed tonight my headlights are starting to dim with any electric load. If I use the turn signals. The lights will dim with the pulse of the turn signal. They dim when I use anything light the heater, brakes, even the factory stereo when listening to the radio they will dim with the bass.
Is this a grounding problem or a power problem? Anyone else have this?
On a side note when I turn the head lights on the lights will come on but they don't always flip up. I have to flip the switch a few times before the come up. Could t is be related to the problem above? Are the any gears or anything that could be lubed?
Are the any free or cheap mods that can be done to these cars? On my old car "a Volvo" I made a boost controller and intake for a few $. Just wondering what the best ($-hp) first upgrade should be.
I gotta say, after reading your two posts here I thought "wow, this guy bought more than he bargained for" but you seem to be a fast learner so you should have no trouble fixing the problems on your long neglected car. The dimming lights seem to be a common issue. Mine has been doing it for years and I don't plan to even try to do anything about it. As far as the headlights coming on but not up, mine was doing that. I replaced the multi-function switch (turn signal lever) and the headlight control module (a smaller black box bolted under passenger headlight) and still had the problem. Slightly bent the female ends in the connector for the headlight module and now they seem to be working. Some have said that bad headlight gears could also cause the problem even if there is no grinding or slipping of the gears. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
