99 Alternator
I did some searching and it seems the whining alternator is not unheard of. But the posts I read were 98s. Mine seems to whine more than I would think normal but is charging OK with no messages. I also detect sort of a chirping sound like maybe a bearing. I have installed Gatorback belt with new balancer and tensioner pullys. I gathered the 99 may have some sort of different pulley? What's the deal with that?
So, can you buy the parts to rebuild one of these? If so where? There are a couple local gen/starter shops but I'm not all that impressed by them.
I would like to nip this in the bud before it turns into a catastrophic failure.
