My 98 A4 is stranded with the service steering lock error. The steering wheel turns with key out so previous owner must have gotten it fixed under recall. Tested battery and it is almost 13v. Any thoughts on how to clear that? Hptuners shows nada under DTCs plz help. Car starts but dies over 2mph from fuel cutoff so I am hosed. Cleaned key too no dice.
Tested the battery disconnected drove it in my working car to AutoZone where they did diags on it and it was GTG. Battery is brand new today so initially I thought that may have done it. Will post back shortly on success or fail.
8Vette7 you rock, I was not able to disconnect one of the K harness connectors (dark and no tools) but I was able to jack up the cutoff using your guidance and that got me home. Regarding bypassing the K harnes, is that a permanent solution or should I install a CLB?
Cool, thanks again for the swift reply, I was literally in the dark in a parking lot with my Windows tablet, HP Tuner module, and broadband air card hitting refresh and hoping someone would respond. What really sucked was that this happened while having my entire AC system replaced ($1200), talk about salt in the wound. But at least I didn't have to pay $100 for a tow and with my luck, the tow experience would have been fun I'm sure! Thanks again.
