GMpartshouse responded and they have no TAC modules in inventory with no idea when they will get any.
Everyone that I have contacted has the same response.
Oh well!!!!!!!!
Dave
I got mine from them last week. C5 had acted up intermittently over two years and got progressively worse. AP had been replaced previously by dealer. Issues not resolved (and of course, no refund or even get the old - not bad - part back). Replaced TAC and I haven't had an issue in 300 mi of driving. I couldn't even get out of town without getting an error before the TAC swap.
Well, all that sunshine I blew up my own **** thinking that the TAC fixed everything wasn't true. Back to getting similar errors (now just P1125, P1286, C1278 every time). I used to get more errors (P1125, P1275, P1276, P1280, P1281, P1285, P1286, series of B and U errors) - not always the same.
I'd like to think that the TAC was bad. I was able reproduce at will by barely flexing the TAC PC board and the car would stall and log errors.
However, this is the first time that I keep getting the same errors over and over.
I'm thinking it's the AAP/TAC cable. Of course, what else is there since the AP and TAC have been replaced. I could be worng again. The harness looks like a pain to re route. Hopefully, I can visually inspect what I can get to and find some obvious wiring issues.
If it were me and Ive had bad experiences with DELPHI Female Pins,, i would find a pin thats the same size as the pins in the TAC Module Use the pin to check the grip on the spare male pin. If you find a loose or poor fitting female pin, that very well could cause the issue.
Bill, you have any pics that show how the cable from the AP to the TAC is routed? LIke where does it go through the firewall? what do I need to remove under the dash and in the engine compartment to get to that cable?
Where did you get this diagram? I looked all through the factory manual and didn't see it (for a 2002).
But I think I've found some drawings that give me an idea where the AP/TAC cable is routed. I'll be posting those in the other thread (that no one has replied to - does that mean not many folks know where that cable is routed?)
I also opened my TAC (corvette c5 1998). Outside number is CB 12578953 A. The board inside is numbered 25337092C. It is a 4 layers board.
The components are:
1) 4x big 3 pins "7723 IxR 339G C6 CA" transistors on the side
2) 1x 28pins "25160945 CTHV0217" motorola controller (with a sticker 91 00134889)
3) 1x big 3 pins "7723 IxR 339G C6 CA" transistor in the middle
4) 4x small 3 pins transistors "N41AF 71080";
5) 1x 16pins IC "A18721 274 p0226AESC"
6) 1x cristal oscillator "D09570223"
7) 1x 42pins Philips controller "CE1532NB C252306 FS0345 H CV2218-1NB-H - 18716"
8) 1x 16pins IC "014 P0227AF 37454"
On the back side, there are numerous SMD: capacitors, resistors (103, 363, 224, 154, 753, 512, 203, 623), diodes and blue components - (251, 1072, 1211, 2152, 3922, 1002, 3322, 6652, 3742, 1473, 1373, 3242).
There are also 2x IC 8pins "49226 J82025 E Jn313D" and a big diode "68-16 ND 2".
Anyone has a clue about the purpose of these ICs in the board? I could not find a single datasheet for those numbers. They are probably proprietary (special order from GM)
