You can get longtube headers made out of stainless steel instead of mild steel(TPIS) for the same price from http://www.stainlessworks.net That's what I did.

To everyone's knowledge, what IS the best set of long-tubes you can buy for a c5 LS1? Primarily $1,000 or less...
Also is it necessary to mess with the cats at all if you're not doing internal engine mods, maybe just manifold?

I just put TPIS's LT's on my '02 and they look and fit great. I would think that the most Im getting in HP is 8 or 9, but they look good and get rid of those precats. email me and ill send you a picture of them installed, they look good. The stainlesworks headers are clearly the best. Perfect fit, no history of quality issues and all stainless construction whereas the TPIS are coated mild steel.

THe coating theory sounds good but if it was as effective as their marketing claims are wouldn't Mallet and Lingenfelter have their headers coated for their cars? Neither of them currently coat their headers and even LG doesn't see the need for it.

Lingenfelter offers inside and out ceramic coat on their stainless steel long tube headers as an option. (I asked them.) I'm having mine coated before they get installed next month along with the Magnuson. :)

I wasn't aware of that but if anyone wanted them coated they could send them to swaintech or jethot. When LG was asked if it was necessary he said no? I don't really know how effective these coatings are. Anyone have any data on them?

You can order the TPIS long tubes with OR without coating... its like a 60 dollar difference, and I noticed, LAPD I believe the headers were like 200 less than I previously quoted.
