Default MAF Ends Question?

If you purchase aftermarket MAF ends with the built in airfoil, do they just replace (by unbolting) the stock MAF end that has the screen? From what I have been told on the Forum it sounds like you are better off to just go with the factory MAF with new ends and a MAFT than to go with a GMS MAF. That is fine with me, but I want to be able to retain all of my stock parts in an unmodified condition so the car can be put back to stock later if need be, so I don't want to just cut out the screens if that is what you have to do. Just curious if the screen will just come off with the stock ends when you put on the aftermarket ends so you don't have to cut them out. Am I on the right track here? Thanks! :chevy

Has anyone out there had any experience at all with MAF ends? Should I install them?

Your on the right track. It's beeter to change the ends if they have the airfoil and retain your stock electronics than go with a GMS. The GMS units can be hit or miss...

The addition of a MAFT will give you the adjustability that the GMS does not have.

Thanks, but do I have to cut out the stock screen, or will it come off with the stock ends?

The screen is a part of the stock front end. Once you take the MAS apart, it'll be removed and you can install the new ends.

Awesome, that is what I wanted to know, I was hoping is was going to come apart like that, but on my C4 the darn screen was molded into the plastic and you had to cut it out. Glad to hear that the C5 one will come out without cutting. Thanks again!

Piece of Cake!!
DOn't buy the GMS. Get the airfoil ones from Breathless. I have em and they work great...

You really should Autotap and get a MAFT in case you run too lean.

Thanks, I think I am going to get both the MAF ends and the MAFT. Then I guess it is up to using autotap and LS1 Edit to get the most out of what I have. Thanks again.

I have MAF ends, hypertech, blackwing, and exhaust done. My O2's are .89-.90 and my advance is around 30 degrees(am pretty sure) at WOT. Do I need a MAFT?
