Default Kooks installed finally

(2001 Z06)
Ok so I finally got my Kooks headers/xpipe installed. Previously, when I bought the car, as far as exhaust goes all it had was a B&B axle back with some muffler shop made xpipe thrown on there (very crappy job done). Got the new headers and xpipe installed and for some reason the car is smoking (blue). Drove it about 20-30 miles to get something welded and was still smoking when I got home but did not go through any oil according to my oil dipstick.

Any thoughts on what this might be or is this normal from the exhaust burning off the inside? thanks.

That doesnt sound normal to me. I have Kooks longtubes and X pipes and have no blue smoke ever. Did you crimp, damage, or modify your PCV system during the install?

They smoked a very little bit at the first startup, but it was almost all fingerprints burning off the outside, nothing out the tailpipes.

Also look for a oil leak under the car. I just got putting on new 2 inch kooks and x pipe no smoking at all but I did get jet hot coating on mine. You have other problem for sure here. Check your valve covers if you had to pull them to get the headers on the car sometimes if reuse the old gaskets they will leak and coming down onto the headers look really good on drivers side in the back and front. Before I did my headers I had a catch can put on but that was quite awhile ago and never had a problem and no problems previous to installing headers. Still haven't gone through any oil and no leaks under car. Never pulled off valve covers and no leaks in the engine bay anywhere that I can see. Think I'll give it another day and if it's still smoking, go have it checked out. I did have to have it spot welded because the hanging bracket didn't matchup to my original one but it was smoking before that so don't think that had anything to do with it. Very odd.

Kooker01Z,
If the headers are brand new & the X pipe too, it's more than likely the light oil within the new pipes themselves.
Keep your fingers crossed.

I'm definitely hoping that's all it is. The smoke is lessening so I think it might be coming to a stop soon.

The instructions ( LG long tube pro's & 3" x pipe) if I remember correctly, mentioned this may happen & not to be alarmed .
That was many happy years ago.

Double check that catch can, to make sure the drain petcock is in the closed position.
May want to make sure the dip stick is fully at the very bottom side too.
