Default Thermostat trouble.

Hello All,

I have a stock C5 coupe.

Stated having some sudden overheating issues and wanted to start by changing the thermostat.

Went to the part store, got the new part (the one that comes in the housing). Un-installed the old part and now the new part will not fit into the hole.

There are to supports on the new part that seem to be wider than the hole. Went to the auto part store and had them pull the same part and compared. There exactly the same.

So went back to see if i just overlooked something and i still can not get the thermostat installed.

any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your help

Eric

They sold you the wrong part, pure & simple.
Take the new wrong part back.

Go to a different auto parts store, NAPA & get a thermostat that comes complete as a unit, thermostat built into the housing, w/rubber O ring.

Sounds as though they possibly sold you a stat for an LT motor instead of an L/S motor.
Hope it works out for you.
