Wheel bearing hub replacement question.
The OEM style uses the same system as stock and the rear needs the preload from the halfshaft to keep the bearing aligned and alive. I have not heard anything good about any of the Non GM OEM bearings lasting as long of longer than the stockers. The Race SFK's do last much longer and hold up under higher loads, but cost a lot more
Also you cant run the new ZR1 bearings because GM changed the ABS system and it is incompatible with earlier cars, and the drive spline is different
This is exactly the case. There are 2 different SKF divisions, the consumer division and the Race division. If you're racing the car it's just a matter of time before you see bearing failure in our experience.
We sell the SKF Racing Division bearings, which essentially became the ZR1 and 10+ Z06 bearings. These bearings may feel a little tight out of the box, but are absolutely the best wheel bearing solution for a track car. The ZR1 and 10+ Z06 bearings are not a direct swap to older vehicles due to changes in spline count and the ABS sensor.
For what it's worth, the SKF part number is the same for both the front and the rear. You can use the SKF Racing hubs in either position with absolutely no issues. This may not be the case with OEM or other aftermarket replacements.
