Default active handling message

Ok, so sometimes I get this meesage while driving. I notice when I have it, it only displays message when on the throttle, even a little. As soon as foot off gas, its gone and one again when peddle pressed.

Any ideas? I did a search, but mostly c6 came up or mutiple messages besides just this one.

I dunno, it cleared before I had a chance to check. The previous owner said he went from 18's F and 19's R stock. He switched them to 17's 245/45F and 18's 315/30 R.
I thought this the problem, but the label on the door said car came with 17's F and 18's R so I dunno what's up.

The tires you have on the car are causing your problem. The rear diameter is .3 in shorter than the front. The rear must be at least .5 TALLER than the front. Your current sizes are 25.7 in front and 25.4 in rear. Simply won't work without triggering active handling messages. And your car did come stock with 17's on the front and 18's on the rear and the rear diameter is almost 1" taller than the front.

Ok, I don't want to change rims, as I love mine. But I will need rear tires pretty soon....im doing research on what to get (tractions issues).

Would just going with a higher treadwall, like a 40, fix the problem? I was planning on doing this already

As I said earlier, just make sure the rear tire overall height (diameter) is at least a half inch taller than the front. Google tire size calculator and plug in different sizes to get what you want. I used the one on the Miata site, but any will work. Your current front is 25.7 in tall, so go for a rear of 26.2 to 26.7 diameter.
275 40 18 would be one inch taller and would work, but do some research on what you want. Using that tire on the rear would get you back to stock sizes for the C5

Here's the calculator:
