CD/Aux will not activate CD

CD/Aux will not activate CD
I have a stock CD player in my 98. A couple of months back, I installed the i-Simple to run my i-Pod. It has worked fine. Yesterday, the CD player would not change tunes on the iPod, then gave the ERR message. Now all I can get is AM/FM, and the CD/AUX will not activate. I do not have the rear changer, just the single CD player. I've disconnected the battery, I pulled the unit and checked the connections, and I even removed the i-Simple and put everything back to stock, but no success. I did not see a sepatate fuse for the CD, just a radio fuse. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Zuti 
PS - I did a search, but found nothing current regarding the standard CD, only the rear changer unit.
