I am building a GTM Supercar which uses many c5 parts including the steering column. I have a tilting and telescoping which I have performed all of the mods to fit the GTM and after test fitting I took it all apart to regrease everything and clean up metal shavings etc. When I did I accidently let the telescoping part open too much and it would not go back in. I kept on fooling around with it until I got it back in but ended up breaking a brown ring or spacer inside the column tube. I took out the three torx screws theat hold on a spring loaded clamp, removed a spring, then a black plastic tube and then got to the ring that I had broken. I removed the ring and cannot seem to find another one on any parts diagram. Seems all diagrams do not include the internals of the housing. Can somebody tell me where I can get this plastic ring which fits at the bottom of the tapered area or even the proper name so I can go looking somewhere for it.
IF IT IS TAN AND SNAPS INTO PLACE WITH LOCKING TABS YOU MAY BE TALKING ABOUT THE STEERING WHEEL SENSOR HOUSING COVER. LOOK AT THE PICTURES IN THIS LINK: http://www.ddisoftware.com/c5-procs/ IF NOT, THEN CONTACT MEMBER SBURCH5887, STEERING GUY.

Reason: ADD
What I am talkin about is only accessible from the top side and is lower that the four bolt flange, it pulls out or the tube and is a polished metal sleeve which can also turn and slide in and out, it was greased from factory. You haul the center shaft out then you will see three torx bits then you remove a white plastic clamp with a screw containing a spring which tensions the clamp areound the inside tube. This white plastic clamp is removed exposing a 4 layer wave washer/spring then a black plastic cyliner about 3 inches long and then this taper brown plastic or composite tapered bushing. This bushing brings up on a tapered edge that most would have not seen before unless you cut the column as per factory fives specs which remove about 16 or more inches from the overall column exposing things you cannot see in the corvette column as it is. This composite bushing is what I have damaged and need to find out where to attain. I would also buy a new wave washer if I could find one as mine has a slight warp.
