This issue has me really wondering. I just read that someone with a
2002 Z06 had the column lock problem.
I have a 2002 Coupe with the A4. My steering wheel does not lock when
the ignition is shut off and key removed.
I have heard others say that they can hear the pin engage and the wheel locks. Mine dosen't lock. Can I assume that mine came from the factory with the column lock disabled or bypassed?
Does anyone know what the story is regarding any kind of running fix from GM? Are only MN6's affected?
Anyone else out there with a 2002 A4 that has the steering wheel locking after shutting off the ignition.
I'd sure like to here from someone with firsthand knowledge (Bowling Green) about the situation.
Been lots of posts on this in the past. On the auto trans new cars, the streering wheel does not lock! Only on the six speed trans does the steering wheel lock as an anti-thief device. On the auto trans cars, the locking pin does not have a locking ring to engage on the column. Not sure if the electrical circuit will still do the reduced power if the computer senses something wrong.
