Nothing like dragging up a 10 1/2 year old post? Just a tad beyond the Forum 45 day rule about old threads........
In answer to your question it BS from the Chevy Tech that wants you to spend LOTS of money at their place of business on their temporary solution. Tens of thousands of CLB's installed with no problems. And now there is an easier solution in the LMC5. Do a search.
I installed the LMC5R after I experienced my SCL. I still get the Pull Key Message. I got a 02 coupe 6 speed. You completely disconnect the relay that locks your column so I don't have an issue with the steerin column anymore but like the initiator of this post, it's getting annoying. I've heard it's a timing issue with the BCM or possibly a bad BCM. Battery is new/good. My question is that why does it work after you wait the 10 seconds or leave the key in? Who can tell me if my BCM is timed or needs a refresh?
I had the pull key message before the LMC5R was installed. I got that and then the column locked. Thats what led me to get the LMC5. Richard from compliance worked with me and sent me the LMC5R because he thought my car was one of the unusual ones. Apparently it is. I get the pull key message but no more column lock. Just want to get it right. I have the OEM fix installed as well but that didn't keep my column from locking. It just gave me the 2mph pain in the a$$.
Do I have to remove the LMC5R and reconnect the OEM wiring before I install the CLB?
