Headers. Bad idea ?
Long tubes --best--Not smog legal though--Also a tune IS greatly reccomended--often times without a tune it will make very little or no extra HP--can be worth up to 30-35 RWHP after tuned

However, the price for the part and install of shorties does not justify them. The exhaust note got tremendously ballsy after long tubes... I went with LG pros.
Great gain with LT's with a tune. My '01Z dyno'd at 404rwhp after the tune was done. I did the install myself which wasn't that hard but wasn't all that simple either. Rear O2 sensors are deleted. Car passes smog each cycle without any issues.
The main issue is when it is time to work on the clutch. Headers have to be undone to get that out.
There is some extra heat in the engine compartment but I haven't really had too many issues because of it.....well except a starter solenoid that is now on the way out. Going to add a heat shield to the next one. Header will come off that side again when I get around to it.
About the laws and such. Federal emissions law prohibits the moving of the factory installed catalytic converter(s) position because the OEM stuff was approved by the EPA for that position. It isn't just because of the smog laws here that mandate this. Any state that has a visual emissions test could fail a LT setup because of this fact.
) and do have all my O2.
Little kids can run on the school grounds all day long nowadays without suffering constant lung pains and having to stop and wheeze.
Oh, by the way, I love every aspect of my B&B shorties with an x-pipe, cat-backs, and a tune. Anyone in CA that can afford shorties should definitely consider them. Don't listen to all the naysayers.
Health insurance? Geez, that's kinda off topic, but it's simple math that unless everyone is forced to be in the game, pre-existing conditions prevent millions of Americans from having affordable health care. Sometimes, they can't get insurance at any price. Maybe you and I are fortunate enough to have healthy families, but we shouldn't gleefully say "tough luck pal" to those not so blessed.
The laws of adverse mortality and adverse morbidity are not up for debate ... they are simple mathmatic truths. Please do feel free to find another overall healthcare solution, but the one thing that can't be changed is the necessity for everyone to be in the game. There is no other solution to that part of the equation. Anyone who says otherwise is simply uninformed or misinformed or making a living by pushing an ultra conservative agenda regardless of the realities involved.
studies showed that most americans already have health insurance. a very small percentage who want it but can't afford it. most of the people who benefit from the new law are illegal aliens. we have 15 to 20 million of them here in california.

However, I'm afraid your numbers are quite off. Actually, of the 45-50 million “Americans” without health insurance, only 10 million are non-citizens. How many of those 10 million are legal or illegal, I don’t know. But that's still about 40 million U.S. citizens without health insurance coverage. On top of the 45-50 million with no health insurance coverage, their are another 30-35 million who have inadequate medical health insurance.
The real question is how many “Americans” (legal and illegal) have basic health coverage as opposed to health insurance? The answer is that all “Americans” (legal & illegal) have basic health coverage by Federal Law since 1968. Who is paying for that basic health coverage for all those uninsureds? Basically, our tax dollars pay for it.
Now, an additional 3.5 million or so lose their health insurance every year. For most of them it is usually only a temporary loss until they become re-employed after they lose a job. But, what if a family member becomes uninsurable due to illness or injury during the unemployed period? That’s right, most will no longer be able to get insurance.
14 million of the uninsured make at least $50,000 annually. Half of those make over $75,000 annually. Keep in mind that your tax dollars are also paying for their basic health coverage. Again, far different from the numbers you quoted.
On top of all this, about 75% of all people who are forced into personal bankruptcy by medical problems had health insurance coverage at the time of the onset of their injuries or illness. Think that under the current medical system you really have health insurance? Maybe. But, when you need it most in the middle of a major medical crisis you may lose it and might have to declare bankruptcy either way.
Anyone who believes that the goal of enabling Americans to have the same caliber of health insurance as is enjoyed by nearly all other western countries is actually a conspiracy to provide health insurance protection to illegal aliens is quite ill informed.
Lastly, anyone who really believes that illegal aliens have anything significant to do with spiraling health care costs in this country has a total lack of understanding of the underlying issues that began evolving in the early 1970's. And, one still has to understand the impact of adverse morbidity to even begin to understand the need for universal coverage.
