I've read some posts about a "free" MAT sensor mod which consists of connecting a resistor to the pins of the MAT sensor in order to trick it into a cool, constant temperature reading. Has anyone done this? Is it innocuous? What type of resistor - 4.7k ohms?
Re: Question about "free" MAT sensor mod (Richin Chicago)
I put it on my 2000 SS for a couple of weeks, then took it off for a couple of weeks, then put it on for a couple of weeks, it's now in a drawer for good. I think it may help if it's over 100 degrees outside. Otherwise, forget it.
The resistor attaches to the air temperature module. Go to SLP's website and look for the AIT module.
If you just plug this module in, then is it even necessary to have your MAT sensor in the air bridge? I have an aftermarket powerduct without a hole, so if you just use this module, I would think that you wouldn't even need to drill a hole and have the MAT sensor in the air bridge if it is already reading a constant temp. Couldn't you just have it attached on the outside of the duct somewhere? If so, this would save drilling a hole, and would keep the airflow inside the powerduct flowing more smoothly. Any ideas?
