Default Installed Vararam today

I finnally had time to install my Vararam with Power duct on my 98.. Installation went well and was about what I exspected. About 4 hours..
I have a couple adjustments to do but nothing major. I just followed the instructions and it was pretty straight forward.. After installing a Vararam on my G8 I kinda had an idea of what I was getting into..

Couple questions

1.Are the Fog lights suppose to fit exactly in the hole were the bulbs are basically sticking out if that makes sense? Mine are not centered perfectly.

2. Do you just plug that little Vaccum line that ran to the stock intake bellow or does it need to be drilled and tapped into the new vararam bellow??

3. Did you guys descreen your Maft when you installed the Vararam?

4. My driver side clip on the intake is loose and the passenger side is pretty tight when they are snapped, is this normal or should they both feel the same.

Other then this I really have no issues. Have about 30 miles of normal driving and no SES lights on. Have noticed a new rattle sound when I give it gas. Hopefully its just a loose bolt or my exhaust and not detination..

Don't remove the MAF screen. It is there to straighten the air into the sensor elements.

Well got the Fog lights mounted correctly I think. I left the screen on the maft but I know every other LS1 car I have owned I have descreened the maft. Still want to know what people do about that little vaccum line?

FROM EXPERIENCE,,,,,,,, Unless your going to have the PCM retuned,,,,,, LEAVE THE MAF SCREEN. Even IF,, your going to have the PCM tuned and the MAF re calibrated,, the descreened MAF can still be unstable.
In fact,,, there are aftermarket people that now sell a MAF screen that you can reinstall that HELPS performance! Who would have known???

The small vacuum line is the fuel regulator reff line. ZIP Products sells a ref line relocation kit and fittings to attach it to a better location with a better signal.

I had the B1 version of the VR and recently upgraded to the B2 and got the VR power duct too. I didn't descreen my MAF and for the vacuum line I just put a small hole in the silicone coupler between the MAF and the TB, put the fitting into the hole, and made sure it sealed at least as well as it did when it was in the factory coupler.

I was thinking about doing that but I read alot that the line just needs to be in air! even the little sticker under the hood of the intake shows that line needs to be vented into fresh air. I have driven over 100 miles now without a code or anything. The car runs great except for my stupid belt tensioner pully!

Its NOT that it in its self being disconnected or in the wrong spot will set a DTC.

The real issue is,,,,,,,,,,,, IF,,,,,,,,, its not getting the correct refference signal for the fuel regulator, it will cause you to be richer than you need to be.

You will never know its in error unless your monitoring the AFR with a wide band. FACT!!!!!!!

FACT 2 Your car is rich fron the factory! Dicking with the things that control the AFR in the BLIND, you will loose 89% of the time...
