Security feature
I put it back into park, turned the key back off, on, and started to back out again. It died a second time.
Upon the third attempt, I removed the key, jammed it in as far as it would go, and this time it worked and I could move the car.
I actually saw the previous owner and asked him about it. He had the same thing happen to him, but only about three times and he never pursued the issue.
Is there a security feature that prevents the car from being moved if the key isn't all the way in?

IF SO,,,, THE SECURITY CHIP (RESISTOR PELLET) imbeded in the key didn't read for what ever reason and the BCM will not allow the car to move. The engine will run but, when the PCM see any speed, it cuts fuel. Clean the contacts on the resistor pellet and see if that resolves the issue.

There are no flashing warnings or messages in the DIC or anything.
The car starts every time without any trouble or slow crank, put it in reverse and once I move about 6 inches.. it shuts off, I've tried giving it some gas to keep it running thinking it may be a gas line issue, or a vacuum, but it instantly shuts off.

The last time I had this problem, I thought about this, so I pushed the key in and it did go in slightly farther than it was (maybe 0.02"). It may have even been less, but muscle memory just puts the key in and goes.
I'm going to venture as to say this is the problem and next time it happens, this will be the first thing I check by pushing the key in further.
