last week after a 75 mile ride I found my clutch return spring laying in the floorboard, drivers side. don't know when it fell out, didn't notice anything. 1998 roadster, I have an early service manual, which states to make sure you pay attention as to how the spring spring is installed, so it can be reinstalled in the same direction when reinstalled. however it doesn't show any drawings as to correct method to reinstall. anyone else had this issue? any assistance in proper reinstallation would be appreciatiated. why it fell out who knows? thanks.

You sure that the spring is not broken?
This is what an un- broken spring looks like.
Make sure that the white bushings (as shown in picture) are still in place.... one on each side where the spring is installed.
Many people leave the spring out with no problems. Mine broke on my 2002 Z06 and I drove it for a while and had no problems. The spring costs about $10.00 and takes less than half an hour to install. From what I could tell the spring helps to push the clutch pedal down and does not help lift it up.
