I know you can screw a fitting for a gauge into that port. It hs been done many times. You just have to search here and you will find it.

The fitting might be the first one in this post, I haven't done it, so I'm not sure.

BTW, I haven't seen my oil temp go past 225.

Is there a guage I can order that will screw right into that bolt with the torx head behind the alternator? Any link to one would be appreciated. Everything I find consists of tapping the oil pressure sending unit. Which I have an extra one to tap but im pretty sure my car would shut off without it plugged up no?
Update probably another 70 miles driven.
Oil pressure at first startup cold engine is now around 46 at idle..62ish at around 3500 rpms.
Still no knock no sounds.
After driving around 10-15 minutes. Pressure at idle 13psi I have seen 10 at LONG idle. I gave it a little throttle to get it back to 17 when I saw that... when it gets like this the idle is there and then its about 26psi at 2200 rpms.

The main thing is a way to tap that hole behind the alternator at this point. Then open up the front and drop the oil pan.
I'm confused. The plug (as seen in the pic) is a threaded plug. There is nothing to tap. It's not "behind the alternator"....is "below".

Default Lol

Forgive me for using that word TAP....lol I didnt mean tap I meant just screw in. The manual gauge I got from the local parts store would not screw in there it was too small.

And yip thats the plug I was talkin about. Ill go get another one and see what happens.

You will have to use an adapter.

If they are the same thread that would help me match up what I want to do. I can just take my old sensor in the store with me and the gauge and come out like a champ the first time. Please confirm.

I am suggesting that a motor from 1997 does yes.. Its late here and I may not be reading correctly but unless he means he installed a stroker motor in her then i would expect to see the stock ls in her. Which would mean that even with the low mile's, she would have been sitting for LONG period's of time. Here in NC we have wild temp's from over 100 degree days, to teen's in winter. And as you know even oil that is not used will break down over time. So yes, even at only 17k on her after that many years I would not "think" I would EXPECT oil to be gummed up in the oil galley's, as well as everywhere else...

.....you didnt read to well. His car is a 97 BUT he has a stroker from TSP. Anyway, I know there is a tool that can be used at the filter as well. Had a mechanic friend of mine use it on my car when my sending unit took a **** right before a long trip. I sat in the car while on the lift.

Right, and while you have been on this learning experience journey, you sent the OP on a wild goose chase, advising those goofy oil additives.
