Will a '99 fob work on a 2000? Anyone know? Vendor sent me a 2002 and have to send back. He now wants to send a '99 this friday but if it won't work i want to stop the shipment so i won't have to send it back as well. I read a post here regarding fobs and a member said that there were two forum vendors who have 2000 fobs in the $60.00 range. Any one know who these vendors are? If the '99 will work i'll still need another anyway. Thanx.

The 99 will definitely work on your 2000. The passive slider switch won't do anything, but the other functions will work fine. I understand that most vendors are out of the 2000 fobs, I'd take the 99 if he's willing.

Ok, i'll let the shipment come friday. I did think it would since it seems from the forum threads i've read they are grouped from 1997-2000 and from 2001-2004. I'm not sure what a "passive function" is but it seems i would not need it from the posts here.
Thanx to all,
fred.
Ps: I am still trying to find a spare. Do any of you know of any forum vendors as a source?

With a 97-99, if you turn the passive switch on the car locks when you walk away and unlocks when you walk close without having to push any buttons. The problem is, the car will lock and unlock when the fob is close even when you don't know it or want it. It creates a lot of problems and I always left it off on my 98 when I had one.

When i was looking online for a fob i saw that there were two different fobs for 1997-2000. One had a small switch at the bottom and i assume that is the "passive" fob. If what you describe is its purpose, then i definitely neither want nor need it. Thanx again.
