Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the TPS and it's 6 wires? I did a search yesterday to find out why the car went into "Reduced Engine Power" mode (While pulling out into traffic, that was nice of my car to do, almost got rear ended). I pulled the codes and got the 2 TPS error codes, I pulled the TPS module and it was really loose and worn on the inside, it just looked bad. I replaced it with a new one and it instantly fixed the problem. No bad idle, no REP. This morning I woke up and I have the same problem.
I wiggled the wires around and unseated/reseated the TPS harness and it's back to working. I'm thinking it was two-fold, however the wires are in a harness/electrical tape and run into what appears the firewall. I would like a little more info before I go digging.
Any help would be appreciated!
PS I have also done the find every ground and clean/pull apart the harness. I didn't see any areas of concern.
I wish it was just something loose, apparently the previous owner was a master electrician.
After asking for the wiring diagram I decided I could at least pull back the electrical tape and cover to see if for some reason there was something obvious, there was!
Apparently he/she cut all 4 injector wires (8 wires total) and put most of them back together by just twisting the wires and putting tape around them. The front injector wire is very similar in color to one of the wires running to the TPS sensor. He must of accidentally cut that one and in "returning" it back to original he put in a small piece of wire and hand twisted it. (The black wire in the picture) It was really loose, I rewired the whole thing.
Then I found my next problem, it wouldn't idle correctly, it was running a high idle when moving. I found Bill Curlee's recent advice on re-learning the idle just now. I'll be trying that process soon. This did fix it though, no more codes, no more random Reduced Engine Power.
