Default Hard Ride

I have a 2004 convertible, the car is stock. The ride has gotten hard over bumps, There is a magnetic ride control switch, there is no difference when I switch the **** from tour to sport, has anyone had this trouble, car has 83,000 miles, do I need new shocks or is there other problems.

How old are the tires? Could be the shocks combined with age and miles too.

Has it become hard over time or was it always like that? The reason I ask is because there is a slight chance that the shipping stoppers were never removed. But, at 83k miles I would be really surprised. So yes, your shocks may be worn to such a point that you're hitting the bumpstops. You need to have it checked out, or get under there and check it yourself.

I have an '03 Coupe w/MSR. About a year ago I noticed that the "Tour" setting got mushy and floaty, while "Sport" got very harsh. IMHO this all points to reduced or no damping. I replaced mine with Pfadt c/o and it handles like a dream again.

Sounds like you're having issues with the factory shocks. After seeing a ton of these threads it seems that 80,000 miles is about the average for the magnetic ride shocks to need attention. I would take a look under the car and check the 4 shocks for leaks or the the car in for a diagnostic if you really want to keep the Mag Ride setup. Just keep in mind that if there something is wrong with the shocks themselves they can be extremely expensive to replace.

We have both coilover and fixed shock packages which will get you back on the road with MUCH improved handling should you decide to upgrade your suspension. Either our Johnny O'Connell package or our FeatherLight Singles would offer great handling, excellent ride quality, and likely be less expensive than replacing all 4 Mag Ride shocks.

I have gone through my 98 suspension wise . After replacing shocks with bilsteens and new sway bars the car still was a little rough over the buffalo roads. I ordered a new zo6 front spring and wow it made all the difference i was looking for .You never realize how bad your parts are untill the new ones show up.
