2000 31k on the car, sat for a couple of years without being driven. Didn't need anything but a battery to get going again but, for the first few days I had it, the A/C seemed weak and took 5-6 minuts before anything cold came out and now will not blow cold at all it seems. Is it a critical issue or do I just need to go to wallyworld and pick up a can of coolant? Also there seems to be a squeaking from under the hood when it is sitting idle. Sounds a little like a loose belt but when the gas is applied, the squeaking disappears and there isn't any belt screech. It seemed to get louder as the A/C got weaker. Any ideas?

Try this I wont explain the details but you can find them doing a search here.
turn off the a/c
Check DTC ac codes then clear them
Disconnect the battery 10 mins / reconnect
Start vehicle and turn on ac
This could assist with reindexing the actuators and fix your problem
Sometimes a slow leak develops at the fittings. If tightening does not fix the leak then new O rings or seals are needed. O rings for AC are not the run of the mill type but made to resist the refrigerant and oil. Check at the fittings.
