How many of you guys with the supewrchargers have had to change alot of stock parts because of the extra power the super chargers give to the stock ls1 motor and tranny or is it a bolt on and drive with no problem kit. Thanks for all who reply.
Stock was great while it lasted, now forged engine, heads, cam, headers, new twin clutch and so many misc upgrades I have lost track. I'd do it all over though!
It depends on how much boost you run and what type of transmission you have. I have a mn6 transmission with the stock clutch and after two years it is still holding up. Now I am running 7 psi boost and don't abuse my clutch (don't dump the clutch, which would be worthless anyhow because it wouldn't hook-up) . If you have an automatic you probably will need heavy duty rebuild from what I have read here.
Overall it has been very reliable. Only issue that I have had is my clutch was sticking to the floor but I cured that by changing the hydraulic fluid using the Ranger method.
So far, so good. I do plan on installing a DTE transmission brace kit.I'm running 8 pounds boost. I've not really put my foot into it, I've always started from a roll to eliminate any drive train slack, before I "hit it" I have always had my traction control activated. It runs like a "scalded dog" and is scary fast.
Thanks for the info guys! I see all these cars (mustangs ) coming thru the factory with the superchargers and was justwondering on a vette which dont come thru the factory with one how bad they are on the drivetrain. I do have an automatic with 3.15 gears.

It really depends on how you intend to drive the car. I've had my Vortech(10 psi, 520 RWHP on a very conservative tune) on for 5 years now. I upgraded the differential, clutch, and valve train during the install. No problems here, but then again, I don't beat the **** out of my cars. Occassional spirited driving, and maybe one trip to the strip per year. If you are going to beat on it , then it will most certainly break.....like anything else. Given that you have an automatic, it will be a lot more forgiving with a stock differential.

The engine will hold up fine with the stock kit, the automatic trans will be the weak point. If you beat on it, the trans will probably fail. It might even fail without beating on it. Some people have better luck than others.
My A4 has been holding up to my N/A car and I used to beat on it. However, I also budgeted for a replacement. It just wasn't worth reworking the transmission when it only had 14k miles on it.
Many on this forum get concerned about supercharging their vette. If you get a centrifugal supercharger you should realize that it really is only active when you are at wide open throttle. So the question that you have to think about is what percent of the time do you drive with your car floored? For the majority of owners it is less than 5% of the time (do you typically drive for 3 minutes during a hour drive at wide open throttle?). So if you have reasonable boost (<10 psi) and don't abuse your drive train your car should be able to handle those brief but exciting bursts of power without trouble.
