While looking for replacement EMTs for the rear I found that I can get 4 new Nitto 555s for the same as 2 rear EMTs. I think I am going to do this. Has anyone had any BAD experiences with removing EMTs or with Nitto 555s? I have seen people who love the Nittos but also seen people who say Pilots are the best for a c5.
I went with the Nitto 555's after my runflats popped. I think that they are the best tire for the money !!! They do make a drag ratial but I never tried it.
I am looking at tires myself and Nittos are one the choices. what do you all think of the traction (?) ride (?) handling in the rain (?) and have you noticed the tires becoming "hard" with time (?) -- thanks
i LOVE the grip they give me, no they dont get harder with age, i would like to say 555's wet traction is under no one...i had to avoid a stalled car on a two lane road when it was wet i thought that i was going to end up in a ditch but to my suprise those tires took over and kept me in a straight line. my traction control never had to kick in!!! :D
Love my Nitto's. Great price, quite, smooth, good traction, good wear, and look good. My car is a daily driver and is not raced. I have about 5,000 miles on the tires and have been very pleased in all respects.
Nittos are waaay kewl...the NT555R's (drag tires) my buddy used with decent success in his Miata autocrossing...lil wallflex under supreme turning load but the braking with those things was  eye-popping. I hear the R2's (auto-x version of the 555R) are coming soon...but no release date I am told...I'll wait...my EMT's still have some tread

If money is not a big factor, go for M. Pilot.
I love my Nitto since cannot afford M. Pilot. Would save the money for some small mods first ;)
I've owned a few expensive brands since I had my nitto 555's and none have compared. The 555's are sticky and last forever. I hear Kumho's are 2nd to 555 as far as bang-4-ur-buck goes.
Strange, when i was in Discount Tire and asked about Nittos the response was a quick "you don't want Nittos" --- they suggested Yoks or Pilots. But as i walked out the door a customer who over-heard our conversation grabbed me and said he had some Nittos and really liked them. -- why would Discount Tire downplay a tire they carry?

It usually has to do with markup or other incentive. Even if the margin was the same for them on Nitto's vs. Michelins, the Michelins would put a lot more $$ in their bank account. There is just no substitute for talking with people who own the product you're considering, and we happen to be lucky enough to chat with poeple who've owned several brands....
I would not recommend Nittos if you live in very hot climate. I ordered my 555's from TireRack and they were good at first. But they get as slick as runcraps after a few thousand miles. I have talked to several members at lvfbody.com and they have the same problems. Since people everywhere else love the Nittos, I can only contribute the problems to the hot climates here (100+ temp for about 100 days here in Vegas). People seem to have success with Yokohama tires here.
