Default Advise please, lowering kit

I would like to lower the back of my 99 about a half inch, Too much room in the wheel well, I've seen more than one kind of lowering kit. Is one better than the other?

Thanks

There is no need to buy a lowering kit.
Your car comes with GM adjusters, you should be able to get ( if not) a 1/2" drop, with the stock set up.

Well that's good. But then why do I see all the lowering bolt kits all the time?

meanjoe,
The lowering kits that you see for sale, are for lowering the C5, lower than the stock bolts will allow.
Stock adjusters will allow a half inch drop.

These pictures may hopefully, allow you to further understand.

Here is a picture of your stock front & rear adjusters.
Fronts notice the large rubber bushing/pad.
Rear notice the 6-1/2" length of the bolt.

Here is a picture of after market lowering adjusters.

Fronts notice there is no thick rubber bushing/pad.

Rear notice the longer 7-1/2" bolt.

FYI, if you use longer bolts in the rear you're basically putting the car down on the bump stops in the shocks. Even the stock bolts allow it to be put low enough you will bottom out much easier.

You shouldn't just lower the back end. You need to maintain the rake. If you don't you can get air buildup under the car and it can handle funny at speed.

There is a right way to do it, and wrong way. Here is a link on how to do it right.

Remember that these cars are getting older, if yours has seen salt it may be very difficult to adjust the front spring adjusters. PB blaster could be your friend here. You should spray the front adjusters with it several times a couple of days before you do the fronts to make sure you will be able to move the adjusters.
