Oil P Sending Unit/Elect Issues???

My oil P sending unit keeps failing. Mechanic said it can sometimes be related to electrical problems too...your thoughts????? If so, what elect issues?? Thx so much. Sherry

The wiring that goes between the sensor and the powertrain control module(PCM), or the PCM itself(least likely cause). Before replaceing the sensor, your mechanic should evaluate the wiring accordingly.

Hi. Getting unit replaced again right now, it's up on rack. If it fails again I will have them look at wiring first before replacing unit. I understand this is a

You should order a relocation kit so the sensor is on the SIDE of the engine.

The brass body replacement sensor seems to last the longest.

Revving the motor when the oil is cold can pop the sensor.

They put your car up on a rack to change the oil pressure sending unit? If so you might consider changing mechanics.

I've read that the sensors can fail prematurely if they have been overtightened when installed.

I have changed mine myself once. The next time it goes, I will put on the relocation kit offered by DPE Corvettes www.dpecorvettes.com

Their kit includes a mechanical oil pressure gauge under the hood which will go a long way to help diagnose any future problems. AND future sensor unit changes are a five minute job once the new kit is in place.
